HANUMAN GARHI, AYODHYA
Chakra Tirth is a circular waterbody considered sacred in Naimisharanya. People come here to take a holy dip in the water body. It is believed to be the pond of knowledge and finds mention in ancient scriptures like Mahabharata, Skand Purana and Brahma Purana. It was the place where wheel thrown by Lord Brahma stopped. Along Pond are ancient temples of many deities. It is believed that the wheel submerged into the earth and a water spring emerged at the place. The spring was so forceful that sages reached Lord Brahma to control its flow of water. Then Lord Brahma advised Lalita Devi to reestablish the Chakra and regulate the flow of water. People gather here in large numbers on Somvati Amavasya. You can visit here Bhooteshwarnath Temple, Sootgaddi, Chakranarayan temple, Badrinarayan temple, Shivalay Bhairav ji and Kashikund.
KANAK BHAVAN TEMPLE, AYODHYA
Popularly called Kanak Sone ki Mandir, the Kanak Bhawan Mandir, Ayodhya gets its name from the richly ornamented idols of Lord Rama and Goddess Sita. Kanak in Hindi means gold. The idols of Rama and Sita have been decorated with a large amount of gold ornaments. It looks gorgeous to see the duo in the golden throne bedecked with gold ornaments. The Kanak Bhawan Temple is of special attraction for the people of India as well as for the foreigners. The mesmerizing sunrise and the thrilling sunset from the spot where the temple is located is a beautiful sight. Spectators are highly elated if they get an opportunity to capture it in their camera film.
BABRI MASJID - RAM JANAM BHUMI, AYODHYA
Of all the Holy Places in Ayodhya, Babri Masjid – Ram Janam Bhumi has been the subject of the greatest media attention and coverage. Ayodhya’s association with Lord Ram is almost legendary. Revered and venerated as the best ruler that the land was blessed with, this epic hero’s position is akin to that of a God. Ram Janam Bhumi is the spot which is believed to be his birth place and here also stood Babri Masjid, a fine mosque built by Babar.
INDRA TIRTHA
Indra Tirtha is to the east and near Kushavarta. This is known as Shakra-Kupa for Indra wiped off his curse given by sage Gautama for enjoying Ahilya, by a bath in this tirtha.. On the bank of the tirtha is a beautiful temple of Indreshwar Mahadev with an idol of Indra seated on an Airavata elephant. Ahilya Sangam tirtha : There is an interesting story about this thirth. It is said that a friend of Gautam took the form of Gautam’s wife Ahilya. He approached Gautam to end his penance. But Gautam detected the game plan and he cursed his friend Jatila to turn into a river. Shocked by this , Jatila asked Gautam to take back his curse. Gautam did and told Jatila that he would be free of his curse This is the Ahilya-Sangam tirtha where Ganga and Godavari join. Places around Trimbakeshwar Apart from Kushavrata Tirtha and main Jyotirlinga temple, there are many places of tourist interest around Trimbakeshwar.
NAGESHWAR TEMPLE, AYODHYA
Of the numerous temples in Ayodhya, which are integrally related to the rich culture of the Indians, Nageshwarnath Temple, Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh is an important one. Established by Raja Hush, the younger son of Lord Rama and an important character of the epic Ramayana Nageshwar Temple throw enough light on the culture of Kreta Yug. During the occasion of Shivaratri, which is celebrated with excessive pomp and gaiety, the place has a very joyful ambience.
RAM KATHA MUSEUM, AYODHYA
Steeped in the memories of Lord Ram, the famous epic hero revered as a God in the country stands Ayodhya on the banks of the River Saryu.
